Great money, poor environment

Indeed tarafından seçilen en faydalı yorumI did multiple positions at chilis. Started as a food runner, then moved to QA, then to line cook. Also washed dishes sometimes. It’s a great job when the management is good. If the management actually cares, you should be fine. My location was a particularly poor example of chilis. Management didn’t care much so none of the workers did either. We got new management and they fixed things up much better. I only quit because we had such low staff that I had to pull double shifts too frequently. The good managers LOVE chilis. Those are the ones who you want on your side. I wouldn’t work at chilis again, but I can assure you it’s a great job with great pay. I suggest it to everyone.

Management is horrible, they lie to you and schedule you when you don’t want to be. The kitchen is filthy, let opossums run through and still use food

Was a hard worker for a solid 6 months watched alot of good people go because management doesnt want anyone who they feel can do their job better than them, they will also work you if you are sick, vomiting, etc.

It’s got great managers and friendly workers. The end time of your shift is never really clear until closer to the shift change and often run out of items even for a half of a day. Needs more of a system in the kitchen to make each zone’s responsibilities clear . Often.m confusion and complaints on whose supposed to be doing what.

Couldn’t move up not even in pay, even after being trained in all areas.
It was stressful because some cook employees only wanted to learn only a few parts of the kitchen while the management expected certain people to learn he entire kitchen, without compensation of acknowledgment of all desired areas.

very difficult and not paid enough
a typical day at chilis is where they expect you to do the work of 3 people in one shift that actually ends up taking the length of 2 shifts with no breaks or lunches during. There's never a scheduled time out so I cannot make plans with family and friends because work keeps me for however they feel like. You'd have a easier time finding a unicorn than ever getting a raise. I can work 7 different positions and I'm getting paid far less than In and Out or Chickfil-a.

The management is fine and good but some of managers is no motivation at all. But overall it is fun and you can gain good experience about work.Everyday you experience good knowledge about hospitality industry. The work is very good and can help you improve yourself, you can learn by self study as well cause they have good records of standards.

Work life balance is hard to plan

The company gives you a schedule with a start time but you have no clue when you will get off. You may come in at 11am and get off at 4pm or it might be 9:30pm before you leave. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about it other than quit. They'll always tell you, "Oh, that's the nature of the business ." No, that's poor management in charge of the store. Do yourself a favor. Stay away from this company.

The management team has no clue what they are doing. It's truly a joke. The kitchen has no one ever over seeing it. Some employees are terrible and nothing is done about it. They take full advantage of good employees

Overworked underpaid

Most managers sit in their butt and play on their phones, kitchen manager has extremely poor communication which is essential for being a head in the kitchen. You're expected to be fluent at everything in the kitchen in like a week, training is poor, I ended up training myself on grill and fry because they'd send the guy that actually knows the stations home early and expects the new guy to cover until night shift clocks in. The only good thing about this job is the flexibility of scheduling. The company practically runs on favoritism, certain people unqualified are somehow in management which makes absolutely 0 sense. If I wanted to work with a bunch of people who need a smoke break every 30min-1hr I would've applied to Wafflehouse. OT pay is hardly worth it, even regular pay isn't even worth the gas and time. At least the foods free and you get mediocre benefits compared to other companies. My biggest gripe is everyone only cares about quality control when health department is pulling up or if the district manager is stopping by.

Between management and co workers everyone is unsupportive and selfish. When I worked here I got an average of 31 hours while my co worker got about 52 on average. Months of complaining only lost me hours and kept a target on my back. This is an office job in a restaurant environment. Chilis says they care but really they care about low labor and high profits. Quality means nothing especially if the work can be done with barebones employees.

Chili's is not doing well as a company, expect hour cuts whenever they can. It's hard to make money here. Management overlooks problems due to inexperience.

Expectation vs Reality=Disappointment
Chili's in Qatar is a good experience to work especially to the first time applicant but once you are already there you will notice to difference. Because of different people and different nationality there is a "Bias". Not anyone could give the chance to be promoted as per their qualities to be a leader instead every one else trying to get the promotion on how they good but lack in knowledge and experience only they are doing things whenever there is a presence of the manager trying to impress theirselves. Very low salary and poor in office Management

it’s not worth it

Getting tipped out by the servers is wrong. We, as cooks, should be getting paid +$3-5 dollars more than minimum wage. It’s not okay to take someone’s passion for food and to pay them a barely livable wage, unless they work a double shift shift, therefore depend on overtime to survive. Working the front for me is a piece of cake. Chili’s has a corrupted system and somehow thinks it’s ok for the cook who is enduring the heat of the kitchen and the rush, somehow make 3x less than a server and 2x less than a food runner. How is running out plates worth more than the person who made that plate for the customer to eat?

At first it Was ok Sometimes really it wasn't that bad I like it somewhat because I like to multitask and cook and time would fly by..But the bad can suck the life out of You 😭😭😭😭
