This is a great place to work if you looking for your first place to work and if you like to work with customers. This is a great area to learn because everyone is nice and willing to teach you anything about the business.

Bad management, terrible experience

The staff were all teens and the kitchens were filthy. the managers were never there but always checking cameras and then when they finally show up they chew you out about everything you're doing wrong even though you're holding the entire workplace together

Horrible place to work

Low pay, no benefits, treated horribly by coworkers and management, does NOT value their employees at all, no paid time off, required to work when sick even though it's a helath code violation, and people are always in your face about something. The managers don't handle conflict very well at all. It's a great place to work if you're just starting out and need a little extra money, but it's horrible if you have expenses

Workplace is toxic and full of drama. Everyone is friends and family so if you're not one of those, you will be singled out.

Hardest part of the job is the coworkers by far. The job can be fun sometimes due to customers and just the way the job works. It's fairly easy but everyone at the store will act like every little thing is a chore. They'd rather gossip than work. Everyone is selfish. There is no teamwork.

Productive and fun

Everything was well. The hours were awesome and made lots of real great people. The managers are great are taking their time to listen to your issues

Great first job

i worked here as my first job in high school and it was a great first job for someone who was also balancing classes and schoolwork. they were very flexible and i had a lot of fun

Nice

It was a great place to work while in school. I enjoyed all the people I worked with and the owners at the time. Easy to get time off if needed and great first time job

Not good.

A typical day at work was fun, all things considered a lot of teenagers were employed there so it was like high school all over again. I learned not to be so anxious and learned how to get along with people. The longer I worked there the less I respected or trusted management. They were focusing on the wrong things. Hardest part of the job was definitely keeping a level head when things got overwhelming, but the satisfaction of surviving was the best. This location had issues with food safety all the time, equipment often broke down and wouldn't be fixed for months. But you were expected to operate at the same capacity either way no matter how detrimental it could've been.

Okay overall depending on environment

Can be stressful but with the right coworkers and management the days are bare able. Overall you have to put in effort and pull your weight just like any other job.

Good starter job

Good place to start out. I worked here all through high school and through college breaks. Easier in the winters and busier in the summers by a lot. All the staff was friendly. Only con is that many times we ended up being short staffed on closing nights.

Great place to start

It was wonderful working for this place the owner was the best I've ever encountered. The environment was always well paced, fun, and I learned so much about communication and customer service.

Good job for high school students

Good summer job for a high schooler. Don't expect to keep the job in the fall because they slim down to a skeleton crew in the fall. Learn a lot of customer service.

Fun and enjoyable workplace

Dairy Queen is a fun workplace mainly for teenagers. This job had its ups and downs but overall it’s a very fun job and you can easily make friends with your coworkers, the only downside would be the rude customers especially when they’re mad about price changes that we cannot control.

Excelente ambiente laboral

Buen trabajo, excelente ambiente laboral, gerentes buena onda y compañeros también, flexibilidad de horario y capacitación en el trabajo. Recomiendo ampliamente si no tienes experiencia o quieres trabajar y estudiar al mismo tiempo. Se pasa de volada las horas.

Terrible work environment

I don't know about about other Dairy Queens, but the Dairy Queen I worked at on Long Island was a horrible work environment. Poor management, poor training process, always under staffed, angry customers, long wait times for food. The only pro was the employee discount and working with some fun people. I am sure not all dairy queens are like this so make sure to ask questions about management style in your interview.

Fun

Learned a lot about day to day operations it was a fun experience to get to know customers and direct employees to obtain goals. I would recommend blizzards.

Too much responsibility for too little pay you’ll have 6 people in the kitchen making ice cream and one in the kitchen during winter. Management was alright

Challenging but Rewarding

It's a tough job, and stressful, but if done right, you earn your bonuses and other incentives. Unless it is a big franchise, your upward career movement will stop at Store Manager. A bigger franchise can get you District or Ops Manager.
