Enjoyed the Work, but not the Pay

I liked working at the Dollar Store in Sterling Park Va. The customers were friendly, my manager was nice and the cash register was very easy to use. Why I left was because the hours and money were awful and there wasn’t that much of an opportunity for advancement.

Unfortunately one of the worst company cultures I've ever experienced

A typical day at work could have you doing anything from Store Manager duties to Retail Associate duties. Moreover, I was given the title of Merchandising Manager, but was expected to fill in for the role of Store Manager without any raise in pay. Additionally, even if you don't have enough staff, you'll be expected to have the store in top shape and will be given unreasonable deadlines for many tasks. When I frequently expressed my concerns with my upper management, nothing was done to relieve these issues, and not having the title of Store Manager, I was unable to fix these issues myself as I didn't have the correct permissions.Overall, the compensation provided at Dollar Tree does not match the daily stress and lack of a work life balance.

Decent Job

The job was okay, it was the people that worked at the same location. I had an encounter with a stalker moving locations to work with me. I expressed to my managers the situation, as I was 5-9 months pregnant during my time working there. They made sure that person & I weren’t on the schedule together, unless someone else was scheduled with us. But , now that theres all new people working there, I have no idea how the store is now. & the whole 4 months i worked there , i was only paid 9.25 an hour, after supposed to have received a raise after 60 days.

Good work environment. Fast paced, Friendly atmosphere. Understanding bosses. Great teams.

While the pay is somewhat low, the job itself is easy, the people who work here make the day fun. The managers actually care about their employees. They are understanding and forgiving and they take the time to train properly. A great part time job for all ages.

Easy to learn and stay, easy work day, minimum wage, good co workers, fun interactions with customers

Working here is great, it's easy, it's kind of fun, and it doesn't require much. Everyone there has been lovely. Most days you're just checking out customers and occasionally filling up balloons and stocking shelves. Only downsides I see are very few hours/work days avaliable, low pay, and standing for long periods of time. I would recommend this job for maybe a second job and for that extra bit of cash you need for rent or groceries.

Productive and fun work place.

I really enjoyed working here. It was fun, pretty cool. Back then everything was just a dollar. I had a manager and some coworkers. Guests were frequent.

Okay

The job itself is easy. Not much to say just your basic cash register job. The customers can be rude at times but it's typical with that kind of job. Management was great and fair.

Great

This is a family runned company. They have no prior knowledge in dental lab; however are very versed in the digital dentistry equipment scene. The benefits are good and the hours are flexible. The workplace culture is great: everyone keeps to themselves and does their work. There isn’t one person who works less than another. Everyone is good about helping each other out.

Good and Bad

Lots of room to grow with the company. Will invest in you if you show initiative. However will take advantage of you if you aren’t careful. Store level teams are great but higher in the company is not always supportive. Don’t pay lower level associates well or offer them a lot so retention is hard which affects productivity.

This was my 1st job, manager was aware and constantly belittled me. Do not recommend working here as it is not sustainable and you are overworked for little pay.

Good for people who like a change in scheduled hours every week

This job is good for people who just want to work part-time and work different scheduled hours and days every week. It's not consistent and the pay is low.

great workplace

Its easy to work around while its busy, friendly coworker, overtime is available at most times. I really enjoy this company I just need more than minimum wage with children.

absolutely no team work. I never seen a place go through so many people in my life.

. The management is absolutely horrible and does not know how to talk to people. I've been in the shipping business for 23 years and trained at a lot of facilities and this is the worst one I've ever come across. I cannot say much of nothing about the superintendent once again. I had a question for him one time and I went to go ask him and when I said something he glanced at me and walked away to talk to somebody else about football. There's nothing professional about the person. I never seen a place go through so many employees in my life. it's not a good place DC One.

No hours and limited advancement

This was my first time being a cashier so it was beginners level. I was hired to stock the store then eventually hired on part time. The hours were limited, employee perks nonexistent, and advancement is opening/training new stores. Team culture was fine.

Mistreatment of Employees

Horrible company to work for. Passed me for manager to guys then pushed me out because I made to much as an ASM. Was forced to work alone too many times to count.

I started working when it opened and they hired too many employees and fired me, I didnt even get my paycheck. I went back and asked them when I would get it they kept saying next friday paychecks go out, and I would come ask again, yet they did not want to give it. Lousy.

Unorganized

I had scheduled an interview only to show up and wait hours due to it accepting walk-ins. That's fine and all but no priority to appointments booked. It was pathetically unorganized. The management had no concern for the appointments booked. after hours of waiting and watching people sneak ahead of me I couldn't continue. In all my years I've never seen anything like this
