When hire tell you lie’s about if want to grow with company , but let you go not trying to make you stay , but working your butt off , hearing things from managers so unprofessional about the employees.

Your experience will depend on the type of management you have. Being a key holder i made sure to be on good terms with everyone so we work better as a team. Also made sure to be on good terms with my higher ups. Bad terms bad work experience is the just.

Easy work but low pay

The job overall is easy but the pay is pretty low. Managers can be confusing as they operate very differently depending on the days you work. Chill job but that's all there is to it.

Easy

Easy work, stocking inventory isn't fun but it is what it is. You get a little discount which is cool. A fun job for a young adult or first job for a teen.

Horrible store!

The manager we had was amazing. Our crew was amazing and so were our customers. Upper management thinks they know what they are doing but have no clue what it takes to run a store. They could care less how many hours you work even if your working open to close 7 days a week which you will from open to close. They think the pay is great a $11-$13 hr. New hires are referring to it as being in military training. Typical day now is being watched the whole time and not being aloud to do the stuff that needs to get done. You stand around and pretend to look busy. Hardest part at this store is the District manager. For the woman he is creepy cause he stares at you all the time watching everything you do. It use to be a fun place to work and we became a family. Use to love going to work and spending time with everyone. Hardest part was working freight but we made it fun. The crew and customers were the most enjoyable part for me. They became family.

Not a good place to be

I was a merchandise manager, they have unrealistic expectations as far as working the freight. Corporate watches cameras of the store and the team all the time and not pick at everything. Nothing I did was ever good enough, they will work you to the bone and still tell you that you are under performing. I would get calls and texts from my SM outside of work at all hours about how I needed to do more. All in all not a good place to work.

i can't recommend working for five below

I was a merchandise manager at this company for a little over a yeari should have turned down the job offer of merchandise manager.so much work unloading the truck in a tiny back room dealing with pallets that are not even loaded right to start with.then having to be careful breaking them down with out anything falling on you but having to do it at a face pace to do everything in such little time.

4 hour shifts only, closing times till 11pm are bad

pay is 11$ an hr, you only get around 2-3 shifts a week each shift is 4 hrs . Easy job, just closing times are bad, pick up everything off the floor

Management was horrible

Overall, I worked at riverlanding location for abt 2 years. Initially it seemed fine but they overwork you and the manager, gustavo, micromanaged all of the staff- even the other managers and support lead. The registers NEVER work and they are always causing problems. Management forces you to click on good ratings at the end of the service- instead of letting the customers choose for themselves. Overstocking shelves, calls after working hours even late at night. Constant gossip and chatter. They do NOT pay for the amount of work you are doing- you WILL tire yourself out meeting unrealistic expectations. Dont even give you a proper break. Makes you pay for uniforms. Overall hated working there. Do not recommend.

It was okay, managment didn’t listen to hours requested. I stated in the interview I could only do weekends as I had school and they said that was okay but I was constantly getting shifts ending at 11pm on weeknights and no weekend shifts. When I voiced my complaint I wasn’t scheduled for weeks

Not a fun place to work. Better retail options

I didn't like working here at all. The management was the main reason I quit. I didn't feel very welcomed into the team. The first day was great. But the managers started micro-managing me right away which I can understand, but they were nit-picking everything I was doing. No one could agree on anything. One manager would tell me to do one thing and then the next one that came in would tell me I had to do it another way so it was just confusing and frustrating that they couldn't let me do it myself. On the day I came in for the interview I was specific on the amount of hours I needed and was promised those hours but I was lucky if I got 18hrs in one week. If you are up front, you're responsible for surveys and if someone chooses not to take a survey it is apparently your fault that the survey score is low.

Fun work place

Worked morning shift and was fun since there weren’t any customers just few employees that got along with each other so we made it fun to stock the store .

Underpaid.

Underpaid and overworked. The staff is friendly and welcoming however, management’s expectations are unrealistic. A typical day is spent with no daily goal or direction while store managers micromanage how work is done.

I just started I don’t have a review other than I’m goin in to a broken store with everyone new and doing the best I can. I’ve already been working about 7days in a row having thanksgiving off (even though the store is closed it’s considered an off day?) the people who have trained me so far seem to be pretty good ppl. They seem honest and they actually want to help me. The self checkouts are dreadful. Closing them does take some time and effort. That might just be on me though I’ve never closed self checkouts before only registers

Fast paced environment

A good workplace to get started in retail. Staff are expected to keep up with an ever changing work environment and schedule but the management team does their best to help you adapt.

Fun at times

A lot of people working but 1 person is on the register which makes the line longer and backed up. Coworkers are cool. Management sucks. The hardest part is actually working because you most likely won't be scheduled for a shift.

No breaks

I had to work 8 hour shifts sometimes, standing, and with no lunch break at all. It was very difficult as I'd get dizzy. Oftentimes the managers would forget to give me a break and there was no one to take over my position at the cash register.
