Forced overtime when busy, wouldnt work with my schedule being a dingle dad

Management doesn't want to pay

Being a field tech, we are always subject to get calls at any time. Management refuses to want to pay for travel. Being on a service truck, you are in a company vehicle and should always be on the clock. They refuse to pay on your drive to and from home.

Great work environment

Great work place with room for growth. Many location if need. All the training you need to succeed. Great trained managers. Wonderful benefits, and paid time off.

Look somewhere else if you're a welder

The manufacturing welder role is specifically what I'm talking about in my review.The bad: A good portion of every day is spent waiting on parts and waiting for clarification on drawing questions. Management is pretty useless. 4 day week with 10 hours per day sounds great, but usually turns into 5 days because of incredibly unrealistic production goals and deadlines. They "pay more than other welding jobs in the area" by maybe a dime. Yearly raises can get as low a 35 cents. Overall, this location is very new and inexperienced, inefficient, and a frustrating place to work. The good: They provide you with all the PPE and tools you need (good luck keeping those tools in your section, though). When I was there, the welders I worked with were great people.

Good place to work. Good pay and good benefits. Co workers are friendly. Management can be a challenge sometimes but overall a good fit for a solid career.

This used to be a great company to work for

Holt used to promote from within based on training, transferable skills, and work ethic. Now, they promote based on who you know and whether or not you have a degree. If you do your job well instead of merit increase or promotion they will just give you more work and more stress.

It’s a good place to work.

I liked working there.Has good benefits and paid time off.Some of the work can be dangerous!Some of the managers are self centered.Most of the employees are ok some of them were jerks.

Very good company!

Pay is good. And they are a family valued employer. I read other reviews and if they think they are overworked they should speak to someone. Holt is a great company with great benefits.

Great place to work, and get to meet people and hear their stories

What is the best part of working at the company?Very pro employe minded and helpful. Very well organized What is the most stressful part about working at the company?I can’t think of any stressful situations except when the supervisor was in a bad moodWhat is a typical day like for you at the company?Sometimes you knew what to expect day to day, but usually we all knew our chores. It’s a service department so, of course we got last minute order and request.

So-so

Pay is a below average, very long shifts (10 hours) which is supposed to be offset by a three day weekend, unfortunately employees are forced to work between 10-20 hours of overtime a week. Management verbally expresses that employees who discuss their wages with each other will be terminated…. Which is against the law according to NLRB. Half the amount of holidays that most other companies offer (seven total) and sick time/ vacation are in one pot. With that being said you would think you’d get maybe a total of 25 days? No… 18 days for the entire year, sick and vacation. Lots of micromanaging, managers looking over your shoulder and coming to “check up” every 30 minutes while you’re covered in sweat and grime. Most days are spent waiting for a decision to be made. And don’t expect any rewards for working 60 hour weeks for 8 weeks straight, you’ll still work overtime the next week, and the next week, and the next. You will be told it’s in your best interest to cancel any plans with your family and children. There is no advancement structure and titles mean nothing. There is a lot of improvement to be done to create an efficient plant in Waco, they sell more contracts than they can keep up with, which runs their people into the ground. Then wonder why 75% of the employees always have dark circles and bags under their eyes, barely talk, argue, and quit.

Good job, fair pay

I enjoyed working here. There were slack times and very busy times. The pay seemed fair and the whole Holt Cat company actually seems to care about the employees. I wish I had started working there earlier in my career.

Horrible

Supervisors only care about themselves. I brought up saftey concerns several times and nothing was done. I was singled out once I got hurt. The company did not take care of me.

Genuinely Happy

The culture and values here are apparent every day and in everything we do. Safety culture, growth culture, the company is ever-changing and exciting! Everyone has the opportunity to take development classes and in fact, it is HIGHLY encouraged. Everyone gets great PTO, Health Benefits, Holidays, 401K matching, Parent leave, gym discounts, and a ton of other benefits. I can honestly say I am genuinely happy here.

Havent seen anybody take care of their employees as well since. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?The work environment is as laid back as you let it be. Poor management seems to wear thin on most employees. You can do so much to help out and even pull part but in the end you mess up too many time they either get rid of you or replace you with someone else.

It’s OK

Over worked for low pay. Management is ok depending on what department you’re in. Takes forever to advance positions. benefits and PTO are pretty decent.

Just another church to the mighty spreadsheet

You will be paid WAY below industry standard for whatever job you do.They will convince you it’s worth it because of the awesome culture and benefits! And you might get kid gloves for the first 6- months. But when the curtain starts to be pulled back you will see it’s all a lie. The “values based” culture has no loyalty except to the spread sheet. The only things of value are the things that can be measured and put in the box. Your managers will pass along the crushing stress and pressure heaped on them, and the political maneuvering and backstabbing become obvious. the benefits are average to meager and dwindle in quality and amount every year. There was once a good thing here but current management is working tirelessly to destroy it, and doing a fantastic job.
