Hard work, little reward

Panera provided me with many years of experience, and many opportunities for advancement. But it’s hard work for little pay. I only worked for franchises and not corporate though, which I’ve heard can be better. If you need something for a short time, then sure, but I wouldn’t look here for a career.

Fun at times.

Our AOP was a great people person. Former GM was amazing. Workplace culture was great depending on the shift. The hardest part was being understaffed.

Fast paced

It’s was okay working here but management was awful they didn’t care about what I had to say ever I had let them know what was going on multiple times. It gets really stressful because they don’t give you enough people or time to open or close so you’re always running behind and stuck there late.

Overworked

We were constantly understaffed and overworked. I began working there as a minor, and turned eighteen during my employment, and as soon as they learned, I was scheduled for more hours during school time, despite my telling them I was still in high school.

Good staff and flexible scheduling

In my experience the Auburn Panera had wonderful coworkers, good management and flexible scheduling. The food is not suitable for a fast food environment and I don't know why it feels like corporate is moving in that direction. Me and my coworkers and managers were always questioning the upper managements priorities and competence.

not the worst place to work

not the best place to work, not the worst. you’ll probably get your requested time off. you’ll have to fight for a raise. only a few stay in the same location longer than 2 years

Fun place to work!

I worked in food production for Panera. Like any other restaurant, it can get stressful. Yet Panera does a great job at streamlining and simplifying the process. Good people, good fun.

really embarrassing when the hiring managers hire people that aren't the best fit, but hire them for quantity over quality.

I learned how to make sandwiches and salads, and how to do others work for them. Management tells you nothings in their control. Most enjoyable was how great I made everything looked when I finished, worst parts when a random coworker tells you you're doing something wrong when your doing its right because they get jealous very fast at my panera.

No pay raises, barely time off, don't care what's best for me and wants best for them, not the company.

Inclusive and affirming

Working as a baker you need to be a self starter because you’re doing your own separate thing, yet work alongside cafe staff at the same time. The associates and management are very supportive and non judgmental making the parallel work easily manageable with appropriate communication. Everyone has been so nice to me.

fast pace, lots of closing work, managers refuse to work

Employees are expected to do lots of closing work while running the store while managers do much less for more money. Managers get much more sit down time and are usually borderline lazy while the staff is expected to do more than there suppose too for such little pay. No such thing as a decent raise there.

It's alright. Not a long-term job

Most of the people I've worked with are fine. There's a fairly large amount of Spanish-only employees at the Panera I worked at, which did make communication difficult at time.But anyway, work is pretty much what you would expect at any casual dining restaurant. Not great, not terrible.

Fun

I really enjoyed working at Panera. Although lunchtime traffic can be very chaotic. There are also time in which the individuals you work with don't fully pull their fare share of the workload. The pay is ok. But it is a fun atmosphere

Very dead and busy

Some of the best coworkers i’ve ever had but i felt like i did a lot of work for others because they constantly stayed on their phone. They hire almost anyone, it’s a good first job.

diversity and inclusion but no privacy

my privacy in the community from living near the area was gossiped throughout the panera networksome managers send insurance marketers to people they don't like via phone i need a new phone number now and possibly a new apartment, thanks coworkers would try to make you uncomfortable by bringing up topics that hurt your feelings to hurt quiet coworkers feelings, at least the loud, obnoxious social drinkers do thisrepetitive areas to work stress-free in minus the sandwich line for a whole year

Busy

Don’t get many people applying. Makes running a store difficult. I always end up working a position instead of managing the store like I should be. Good pay

Fun Workplace

Diverse and fun staff. I worked as a dishwasher for four years and had a blast. Overall a great place for part-time work, with the only negative being rude customers every once in a while.

Busy

I worked at Panera before the change of locations so management may have changed, but I have heard pretty constant stories across others I have known that have worked there. They will put you anywhere regardless of training, not very understanding of how busy it really can get and at times very rude.

Easy work but poor management

Your actual work is easy enough, but in my experience, the management was lackluster and would over-schedule me. I was in high school then, so even though I couldn't work more than 30 hours, they would schedule me for 35-40 depending on the week.

Okay place to work, nice staff, rude customers

The job was okay. I made lots of friends and the staff were friendly. The problem was mostly with the customers and management. They expect alot from certain people and they expect employees to do the slack of the ones who didn’t work hard enough. They also don’t train people well and they just throw them in a spot and expect them to know what they are doing. Customers are also very rude and complain too much about our service.
