great first job

The general manager of this location is a wonderful first boss! This is ideal for any first-time employees, such as high school students. I learned so much about customer service.

Food safety disaster

Literally the dirtiest restaurants to work for. Even known violations were approved by upper management so that they didn’t miss making any money. The company has gone downhill the last few years since new management took over. You can see by how many great leaders have been running to new jobs as fast as they can. Don’t do it you will regret it.

Low Staff and Cross Training

Coming from another Panera, where everyone was cross-trained, I noticed most people would stay at the stations they would be hired into. While this is great at building proficiency, it was terrible long run when employees would quit and none of the current workers could help fill in.

Fun workplace and easygoing

Panera was a chill job, the only bad thing about is was the customers, they are really entitled. Management is really chill and overall it’s a good job

Complete Joke

Was consistently asked to work well above my level while at the same time never being considered for a promotion(other employees were promoted seemingly at random). This was a few months ago at this point, so things very well may have changed, but I went through many employees and managers and nothing ever did while I was there.

Not bad.

Not the worst. Supportive managers and higher-up bosses. Work atmosphere is generally good. Stressful if any bit busy. Too fast-paced for myself, but that's just me.

Fun work environment, not the best benefits

I wish the hourly rate was a little higher, however it is fast food so what can you expect. The environment is great. I have a lot of fun working with nice people and feel supported by staff.

fun workplace

The work is pretty much divided into stations: Dining Room, Cashier, Barista, Bakery, Food Assembly, Food prep, and The Guy Who Does The Dishes.Typically, you get assigned to one of these stations for your shift (ranges from 4–6 hours) and you'll mainly do that for the entire time. They train you at the beginning for about 3 different positions (whatever ones they need at the time).

Good if you want free food, but...

If you have anxiety about literally anything, this not the place for you; especially if you're still in school. Otherwise it was a fun atmosphere and the team members and benefits are really good, it's just a very high stress environment.

Horrible place to work

Trash place to work. Area directors are horrible with communicating, take advantage and since they hold rank tend to treat situations in their favor. HORRIBLE place to work

Unorganized and Annoying.

The job itself is not hard at all. The management is unorganized with scheduling and annoying however. They update the schedule (maybe) at the end of the week and are surprised when people aren’t able to make it to their shifts on such short notice.

very stressful and you may not get a lot of help, always on call on weekends so you can never plan to do anything. sometimes i get orders late at night on friday for the next day, or the worst, the ones that come in while I'm asleep!

Absolutely a joke of a company to work for. terrible management and zero communication and respect from management. i wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Very immature and unprofessional management which leads to drama and an unstable work environment.

They are all friendly and welcoming at first. The management is poor. There is undermining favoritism among manager-coworker relationships. Your hours get cut often. They will schedule less workers purposely so that the company is short staffed and will hesitate to phone help if needed.

terrible management, hated me because i was christian, awful leadership, boss made decisions based off personal opinions of people.

a day at work had one person doing 12 jobs, while another did nothing. most enjoyable part of the job was leaving. never going back thanks to selena.

Great place to start

Great place to start into the corporate world. Make sure to negotiate your rate of pay right from the get go. District managers can be a bit strict due to having to cut costs all the time

The employees are amazing and you feel like a family, but the management is no help.

Good people.

Love the customers and workmates. Pay is not great but the camaraderie made it a nice place to work. Management is good and care for their employees.

Productive, can be fun, chill, rewarding at times.

Panera overall is a decent place to work at, it’s fast-paced but has its moments of time to breathe. Although it’s for anybody at any age it’s more suitable for ages 16-22. It’s a very good first job and working there has taught me many things about myself and my ethic. My only complaint is corporate, a big majority of them are extremely stuck up and have forgotten where they have come from, that’s if it was handed to them already… if you want to feel accomplished at Panera get well with your actual managers (GM, AM, Supervisors) they are the ones who actually care for you (mostly). This is only coming from experience as a former manager there and a veteran at that, I’m a very observant and analytical individual , corporate or district managers are very fake and condescending, I wish I can give a full appropriate review but hey. Long story short, Panera is a decent place to work at. Will definitely keep you moving (please do multiple positions), build friendships, and make immediate management proud! Care less about corporate they are draining and don’t take their BS like I did. Thanks!

Bad management and low pay

Management wasn’t the best. There’s no requirements to being a a manger other than wanting to be one. The location I was at was very dirty. The work itself is a lot starting off but it’s routine once you get used to it. The pay to workload ratio isn’t the best. The work would be okay if the pay were more.
