I enjoyed building locomotives just wish it was more organized and more stricter on socializing

What is the best part of working at the company?Not me but people sit in the bathroom way to long while I was there building locomotives. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Not organized very well took to long looking for parts and hardware. Also they would start building a order when they knew they had part short there.What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Well alot of socializing there when I was there to many social buttery flys there when they should be doing a operation. Send people home if there standing around. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Well when I was there I was stressed cause I had social butter flys at my station so I had to do there operation as the team lead plus do my job.

Perfect for retirees or close to it.

The most difficult part of the job is learning all of the locomotive parts and where they are in storage. Very laid back and usually uneventful shift.

Easy job

Easy job good benefits only wish it had air conditioning. So hott in the summer and cold in winter. It is a strict attendance policy so there is a high turn over from people not being able to make it to work on time.

Good place to work but could pay better

The is a good place to work...Nice building,they have a good Work/Life balance they understand you have a home life outside of work,Good benefits an 401K plans,the only con in my opinion is the pay could be better for the job/jobs you perform day to day

Bad management

Bad management, no one really knows what they’re doing, that badly ran it’s laughable. Organised chaos, some good benefits but overall an unpleasant place of work.

Horrible place to work

There’s no job security what so ever even for Alabama being a work at will state if you try to move up they will always pick the Pearson that does the least amount night shift is awful and it’s not because of the coworkers it’s that there’s no order of operation the breakdown department is full of the hardest working people yet looked at as the least they pay the people who sit in chairs all day more because they have more questions on the qualification test then they do yet breakdown has to stay at a fast pace throughout the 12 hour shift no matter how slow production is running on assembly you have a qualification test that your supposed to take but don’t worry because you won’t be using any of that and if your in breakdown and your going home early we’ll good luck because while everyone else walks out the door your still back there working because no one told you that they were finishing up, there point system is indefinitely messed up you could have someone light off fireworks in the parking lot and get a 3 day suspension although you call out and they tell you to wait because they had already terminated you and you will always be short staffed no matter how many people they higher on because there is no such thing as work/life balance they just continue pushing for there production number

Best Place I've Ever Worked

Progress Rail is the best company I've ever worked for. People are nice, professional, helpful and truly care about you as a person. There is a lot of opportunity if you have a good attitude as they are still expanding the business. The facility is very clean and safety is taken seriously.

Easy job, okay Pay but very indecisive

Depending on what you do, the physical work is pretty easy. I feel that the company needs to up the wage. You’re working in 100 plus degree heat and not many people want to do that for 15 or 16 an hour. One thing the company lacks on is communication and decision making, they will tell you Monday that we have Saturday off and change their mind Friday after you’ve made plans for the weekend and that’s only one example.

Supply your own tools.

Good people. No tools. They never had the tools necessary to compleat the job, yet wanted the job done. Can't drill holes with fingers, gotta have drill bits. They preach safety first, but in reality, that's only if safety doesn't interfere with production. They had old equipment literally from the 1940's, and the modern equipment they had was always out of service.

Crossing department

DO NOT WORK IN THIS DEPARTMENT. Terrible training and management. Loved the work but they guys theres are awful. Good luck if you try it. Big turn over rate

Hate it

Management sucks. No work/life balance. Pay is horrible. They neglect to tell you that if you get any points or write ups you don’t get a raise or the quarterly bonus. They also prefer if you work like a machine and kiss their butts.

No work/life balance

I was told at the interview that overtime was available but not mandatory. For about 4 weeks, that was true. Started working 10 hour days Monday through Friday and 8-10 hours Saturday mandatory. Pay was ok and benefits were good. Management was almost always of different opinions which led to lack of communication and confusion. Would be fine for an individual that didn't have a family they enjoy spending time with.

Not good.

You will be forced to work overtime just about every week (60+ hours). To reach and unattainable goal. Then blamed for it when machines don’t get out on time and punished with 0-1.5% raises and more overtime. This is for the Montgomery location.

Clean, good work culture

Working at Progress Rail has been a rewarding experience. The company values its employees and provides ample opportunities for growth and development. The work environment is positive and collaborative, fostering innovation and creativity. However, the workload can be intense at times, and work-life balance can be a challenge. Overall, I would recommend Progress Rail as a good place to work

No corporate support

Corporate support is almost nonexistent at times, despite being a division of Caterpillar. Report things that are needed for the job but given nothing and expected to get machinery up and running after years of sitting.

Unprofessional Management

"Some people" I worked with were great and made work fun "BUT" when it came to management, they would blame you for things that you didn't even do. 👎

The good and the bad. What stands out about working at this company

The good: The job is interesting. The pay compensation/benefits are outstanding.The bad: For what it’s worth, progress has a two tiered work culture environment. What does not apply to some is applicable to most. Other than that, the place is awesome.

The site lead just wanted blood from a stone and had unrealistic expectations of how much work staff would do while wasting your time making you attend pointless meetings

Progress rail moblie crew and the good ol buddy unfair system.

Progress rail moblie crew corbin ky is under poor/ unknowledgable management. If you are not a yes man/ lady and don't always agree with management you will be a short timer with this staff.. they will make-up or look for reasons to terminate your service. There is great co-workers and one good lead man at this location.. as a whole the management is a sorry excuse for leadership or knowledge. If your looking for a fair and career minded place to work..Don't waste your time...

Bad environment

Understaffed, not caring environment, under payed, and long hours. The insurance however is outstanding probably the best you will find but you are just a number to them
