Shady Culture and out of touch management

Two weeks ago we were being hounded on a constant basis to exceed production goals. This week our department has all but closed it's doors with the majority of people laid off. This company has many secrets. Your pay will almost always be incorrect. You will almost always get sent home without pay due to low production. This company is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Don't tempt it.

Mindless with average compensation

The job is easy, physically demanding occasionally, but easy and mindless. The pay is steady and reliable, but the culture doesn’t support free thinking or suggestions on how to improve production. Corporate makes all production goals and decisions without ever working in the warehouse or understanding obsticals. They basically want a robot that doesn’t see their flaws. Amazon management are not supportive and it’s difficult to promote within the company. If you have the experience or education to get a better level job, go for that and don’t think you will be able to promote once you’re hired.

Make you over run for production and then cuts your hours with no explanation.

Extremely secretive. More cameras than at a jail. I would not recommend anyone to work here unless they severely needed the health benefits. Pay is average, but paid well for the amount of work you actually do.

They will bring you in just to fire you.

Very disappointed with the recent decision to cut all new hires from the company. They went by seniority and cut anyone who was under “6months” they offered you to come back but you wouldn’t retain your tenure you would start all over again. They had an unethical approach to the matter of cutting people. There is no Severance package that they spoke on so it’s just good luck to finding a new job with no security after an abrupt firing

Just a job

It still needs a lot of organization not a job if you can’t stand for 12hrs benefits are great but other than that it’s factory work your just a number there.

I wouldn't recommend to my enemies

No room for advancement for employees, some dangerous work conditions when there's a fire you breath in what's in the cell when there is a fire employees have to go outside no matter the weather without a shelter

The harder high paying jobs stay with the Koreans, they exchange every 6 months, they will not show the Americans any of the higher skill jobs

Good money if you can bear the utter boredom and uselessness of the job....

I work standing at a machine all day long. Often it breaks down and then I wait for them to come and fix it. I wait and wait and wait. I learned how not to make a battery...

Good Pay

One of the only good things to be said about SK is the pay. The longer you’re here, the more raises you get, but that doesn’t matter too much when your hours randomly get cut and the ability to go in for overtime changes every month or so.

Don’t expect much

SK pays terrific. That’s about it. If you want to move up (next level, team lead, supervisor etc.) forget about it. Evaluations rarely happen, and when they do nothing comes of them. HR could care less. They WILL CUT YOUR HOURS RANDOMLY, if you want a consistent hourly based job, go somewhere else I beg of you. Your hours will be cut and you will get a 24 hours notice. Sometimes multiple days without work or pay. Want overtime? Get ready for it to be taken away. Nothing is set in stone here, not even your position. Very annoying working here

Worse job I've ever had

The only good part about working at sk is the pay but that's never right, and the dust and everything you breath in damage your lungs. The coworkers will all stab uou in the back to try and get ahead.

Good industry

You need to be eager to learn and self motivated to succeed in this industry, you have to take the initiative to ask questions or you won’t get anywhere

Full of snakes and fakes

The pay pulls you in. Not the security you have to go in and out of regardless if you are leaving or coming. Not the app that they want you to download to your phone so they can see your phone activity while they make sure their company privacy is locked down. Not the endless car accidents getting off work from ppl rushing out. There has been a fatality leaving that parking lot before. They have 2 plants and are not equipped what so ever to handle the amount of ppl there. They are adding a 3 Rd plant. Great for someone for check who can accept their ways of working. I personally was tired of fighting to park. Going thru security to rush to my department to get dressed out and go to bed rushed on the floor just to sit in a room for a good 30 minutes is not where it's at! Then before you leave, you got to go back to the same hot box with about 100 or so co workers who all have to sit there and just wait for nothing to be told, ok you can clock out nowIf you love bootcamp then this is the place for you. The training is incomplete and I have personally watched ppl untrained clean up chemicals (electrolyte spills) incorrectly and have to be carried out in an ambulance because they inhaled it. I don't think it's safe at all. Especially when their batteries aren't even efficient at a full charge. SK battery bad to good ratio is 8:10. Competition like Samsung(yes I have researched the competition) and LG are producing at a 9:10 to 10:10 ratio. I personally feel this company has gained way too much access to us for them to be here and so secretive. Be wise. It may suit you. For -

I'll never look back!

SK is one of the most unique places I have ever worked. I've never seen a company so large blatantly ignore so many health and safety regulations and get away with it. The hours are long and boring, management does NOT care about their employee base, and they play favorites. Promotions are not based on merit, but more likely its about who you know in positions of power. The money is great, but there comes a point when the paycheck isn't worth how you're treated.

Great place for a new career start in a field that has great potential.

Provided training and issued hot work permits. Responded to emergencies in the plant. Sometimes you are just responding to a person who is sick or a false fire alarm. You have to always respond like that person is seriously hurt or there is an actual emergency until the event is investigated.

Poor management and bad communication

The management is the most absurd thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. And nobody knows what they’re talking about different supervisors say different things. Everyone’s confused about the point system. I know HR is trying their best, but their processing is very slow especially when you have issues they need to be taken care of fast. Most of the management is unprofessional. The lunch situation is horrible. They either run out of food or it’s the same old food, but they serve almost every day. 10 out of 10 would never work at this place again.

Pay and easy work

Pay is good was better before they changed between workday and adp only because they still use both for the same thing and nothing adds up together. They still struggle with getting the pay correct. The work is definitely the easiest work anyone can do in their life. The people you work with are what make the work environment, without that and being able to talk amongst each other the job can get boring, but it's up to you on wether you want it to be boring or not. It is not a bad place to work there are just some things that still need to be worked on.
