Is very slow paced environment, even the rushes aren't that difficult. The manager is pretty cool, but he needs to do better with scheduling, no paid days off though.

Easy, engaging, and fun

First job was at trop and loved it. Friends are what made it for me. Be prepared to work at a fast pace. Definitely can get boring during nights but overall a good place to start out for your first job or work while in school.

Easy job but unrealistic expectations

Loved the job and the coworkers were nice but they expected too much of me for 11 dollars an hour. I was promoted to shift lead after 6 months and they expected me to work for the same amount as a crew member. When I requested a pay raise I received an extra 50 cents.

It's what you make of it!

If the manager wants to be there and take an active role in the cafe then it will succeed beyond their dreams. The hardest part of the job is keeping staff but if you treat them right then they tend to stick around. And that usually means more than a 10$ gift card and a pizza party. Your crew is mainly teenagers so tell them every day how much you appreciate them and they will go far!!

Overall pretty easy simple job

I enjoyed working while I was there. My manager was awesome and very flexible with scheduling and pay. Pay was very mediocre and tips were mostly pretty bad unless you were working on a holiday

Not fun

Not a great place to work at. The managers are lazy and don’t help. They talk to you any kind of way and micromanage. I was there for two months and was promised full time hours but never got them

Do not work here

Do not work here the job pay you 11 dollars no matter what they are dramaful and you have to do everything in the store and its mostly only 2 people on a shift I do not recommend going here

The job was very flexible but did not pay well.

For me personally, my manager was very flexible with my schedule when I needed time off or needed to go to an appointment. When I first started, I got at least 20-30 something hours (I was part-time) but then there were times I got less than 20. A simple conversation with my manager usually resulted in extra hours when needed. The pay was less than $7 when I first started and it was tough but then it was bumped up to $8 an hour for crew member. I was offered a promotion for crew leader after some months but I turned it down because the crew leaders always seemed stressed out. This is a good job for teenagers or young adults who don’t need full time hours or a high rate. But if you have a home and bills, no I do not recommend working here. Before I left, hours were being cut severely for everybody. Overall, I appreciate management and crew leaders for treating me well. They even said I was always welcomed back after I started a new job and wished me well.

Nothing stands out since new management it’s been terrible. We just get treated badly they give certain people certain hours.

It’s not good working there at all. The owners don’t care about the workers. They are all over the place still don’t know how to run the business. They they don’t prep or train properly. When I worked there I was so miserable and wanted to leave 10 minutes in because of how they treated people.

Don’t care about workers, They don’t help u outside of work, Give you about 1 day of hours . They are petty for no reason, Talk to the employee however they want.

Terrible

Terrible. Horrible place to work. Always terrible management. Don't know WHERE they manage to find the crew but those people are usually horrific as well. Overall, shady company that doesn't care about its workers or customers.

it was fun working there but manager sucks . basically worked with all my friends so if ur over 20 don’t apply it’s literally all teens . u are either making smoothies or sitting on your phone

Job

Job I had in high school. Not a bad place to work. Customers were okay. Not every exciting. Pay is not the best. It was an okay job to have. Work recommend.

Fun crew, terrible management.

After a year of working at Tropical Smoothie Cafe, I was "let go" for being unable to show up and failing to find coverage for a single shift. I have never done this in my time here, I was then cut off, no one communicated, I had no time to find a new job. DO NOT WORK HERE. Employees with children working 2-3 days a week for 5 hours a week. I was, according to practically every crew member, the most attentive and charismatic employee, friendly to customers. I loved my job, as long as no management was there. The customers were nice the majority of the time. Scheduling is inconsistent, but that's the least of my concerns. Pay sucks, but that's manageable, no opportunity for advancement, terrible communication from management to crew members. I'd say the *only* positive is the crew, at least my crew. Toxic environment and the management will over work you and still complain you are not doing good enough

I would go into work and do tasks that the managers should be doing and not receive any appreciation. I worked the whole time while the managers would gossip about employees and do practically nothing. The only thing I enjoyed about this job were my coworkers.

Not fun

Not fun to work at . Don’t recommend . The boss was very rude & the co workers never did their job so I always had to do everything by myself & when I let my boss know he expected me to make them work even though I was only a crew member

Run

I was there 2 weeks still nevertold me how much I get paid! Hard to get a hold of DM or corporate office. Been trying to get paystubs and get the run around. Training was nonexistent no communication didn't know any schedule til the day before the next week

A good first job

It’s a good starter job for any high school student or just graduating. Definitely helps improve your customer service skills and is a good stepping stone to other opportunities.

Easy job but horrible management

I loved all the employees and made some amazing friends but management made it horrible. Management had major favoritism towards some employees and didn’t value the employees that actually did their job, but management will never admit their mistakes and blame other employees for it.

Productive Workplace, but Poor Management

As a smaller manager at Tropical Smoothie Cafe, I enjoyed being able to explore leadership positions so early into my career, but management did not make it an easy experience for me. They hover over you regardless of how long you've been working there. Management is inconsistent in their attitude and values. One week they're very lenient and step back, allowing everyone to do their job without feeling overwhelmed - and everyone preforms well because they know what is expected of them. The next week, management is over your shoulder and very tight. This is a good entry-level job for teens or someone looking to make a little extra cash, but is definitely not for paying the bills or a real career.

Busy and fun

It was really busy around lunch and close to the afternoon when school was let out. It keeps you busy but also a fun experience if you like making smoothies.
